Our Buccaneer community member, Arctic Reflections, is taking another crucial step in its mission to combat climate change. The team is heading out on its second ice-thickening field trip, building on its groundbreaking efforts to strengthen Arctic ice. This large-scale test will further evaluate their innovative method while exploring more efficient ways to distribute water across the ice sheets.
By reinforcing Arctic ice, the team aims to enhance its resilience against melting during the summer months. Additionally, their work supports Solar Radiation Management by leveraging the reflective properties of ice sheets to help regulate global temperatures.
Why This Matters
The Arctic plays a vital role in Earth’s climate system. As sea ice diminishes, less sunlight is reflected into space, accelerating global warming. Arctic Reflections is working to reverse this trend with a nature-based solution that strengthens ice and slows its retreat.
