Energy Talks & Drinks | 29 February

Let’s explore one of the most promising areas for offshore wind

Attention! No Energy Talks & Drinks on the 7th of March, but on the 29th of February.

Do you want to know more about a geographical location with weather conditions that have a unique opportunity for wind energy generation at maximum efficiency? Could Curaçao’s Vast Offshore Zone territorial waters be some of the world’s best for large-scale floating offshore wind and so become a major supplier of Green H2 to the Netherlands?

Last year Fugro surveyed the waters of Curaçao to see if a floating project is feasible with respect to the soil conditions. TNO at the same time conducted a feasibility study on the competitive position of Curaçao as Green H2 provider based on the development of large-scale floating offshore wind. The newly developed floating wind farm should generate five to six gigawatts of renewable energy (Green Hydrogen) in 2035, far more than the daily island’s power demands of 130 megawatts. The production surplus will be converted into hydrogen providing Curacao with a new role as an exporter of Green Energy. On top of that, could this project also demonstrate the expertise of the Dutch Offshore and Maritime Industry in developing floating offshore wind technology at an international level.
