Energy Talks & Drinks | April
De-risking offshore wind construction – ambition meets reality
The offshore wind ambitions remain high but projects are under pressure.
Rising costs, stricter environmental requirements and geopolitical uncertainty are forcing the sector to rethink how offshore wind projects are installed, powered and operated. Innovation is no longer optional, it’s becoming a condition for delivery.
During this edition of Energy Talks & Drinks on the 16th of April, we focus on innovations that help reduce environmental impact, operational risk and offshore emissions. Short, focused talks, followed by open discussion and informal networking with tech enthusiasts from startups, scaleups, corporations, and investors from our ecosystem.
Speakers
- Diederick Nierstrasz – Gentle Driving of Piles (GDP): As underwater noise limits, environmental aspects and installation loads increasingly affect offshore wind projects, new installation methods are required. GDP presents a vibration‑based pile‑driving technology designed to significantly reduce noise and structural loads, while remaining scalable towards commercial monopile installation.
- Timo Molenkamp – Delft Cymatics: With project margins under pressure, uncertainty is becoming a risk in itself. Delft Cymatics shows how advanced offshore sound and vibration modelling, uncertainty quantification and data interpretation can support better‑informed decisions during design, permitting and execution.
- Willem van der Merwe – Amphibious Energy: Diesel dependency offshore is increasingly difficult to justify both economically and environmentally. Amphibious Energy introduces an autonomous, renewable offshore power solution that combines wind, solar and storage, enabling cleaner and more resilient offshore operations during construction and standby phases.
