HAL Investments is the Dutch investment subsidiary of HAL Holding N.V., an international investment company that is listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange via HAL Trust. HAL’s history dates back to 1873 when the Nederlandsch-Amerikaansche Stoomvaartmaatschappij (N.A.S.M.) was founded in Rotterdam. It was later renamed Holland Amerika Line (HAL) and the last shipping activities were sold in 1989. With these proceeds HAL Investments began its investment activities.
HAL’s strategy is focused on acquiring significant shareholdings in companies, with the objective of increasing long-term shareholder value. When selecting investment candidates, HAL emphasizes, in addition to investment and return criteria, the potential of playing an active role as a shareholder and/or board member.
HAL has a diverse portfolio of internationally active companies, including investments in the energy and offshore sector. In addition to investments in established companies, HAL is interested in identifying promising scale-ups in the (renewable) energy sector with the aim to invest in the leading companies of the future.
