Energy Talks&Drinks – Wave Energy & Subsea Installations
6 June 2019 @ 17:30 - 19:00Free
This month, the Energy Talks&Drinks will focus on wave energy and subsea installations and we have some great talks in store for you.
Concept study Ocean Wave Power Station
Peter Keegstra (former submarine commander, former Director at Fokker and former Holland Signaal) and Maarten Deul (HSE-Q Coordinator at Damen Shipyards Gorinchem) will present their concept study of an Ocean Wave Power Station on behalf of the OWPS Consortium. The initiative started when, out of interest, Peter Keegstra tried to calculate how great the potential of wave energy is and answer the question why so few workable concepts are currently being developed. Together with Maarten Deul and others, he made a serious concept study based on these insights.
Energy from wave power
Furthermore Matias Segal from Eco Wave Power will explain how EWP converters draw energy from wave power throughout uniquely shaped floaters, which rise and fall with the up and down motion, lifting force, change of water level, hydraulic air lock, and incident flux of waves.
Subsea Installation Innovation in the past 10 years
End of 2008 Shell completed the subsea installation scope of the Sakhalin Project (see photo above) in a harsh environment with subzero water temperatures and with earthquake risks. Subsea installation technologies have changed since then, but how and what advantages are there ? During the Talks Pieter Swart, Principal Technical Expert Subsea Pipelines at Shell Projects & Technology, will answer these questions.
Eco Wave Power: Converting energy from ocean and sea waves into electricity.
Shell: Subsea Installation Innovation in the past 10 years.
As always, the Energy Talks&Drinks will take place in the Presentation Room in Building C.
