September’s Energy Talks&Drinks – Electrons to molecules
E-Refinery initiative at TU Delft
For a zero CO2-emission world, we need to produce chemicals and fuels in a sustainable way. The e-Refinery initiative at TU Delft aims to develop electrochemical production systems for fuels and base-chemicals. Benefitting from their multidisciplinary campus, they address all aspects from the nano-scale to the societal implications. Their present focus is on the development of an electrochemical conversion system for the production of ethylene from CO2 and water, to assess its potential for the chemical industry. Bernard Dam, professor in chemistry at TU Delft, will tell you more about the e-Refinery initiative during the talks.
Building business cases to help accelerate the energy transition
Vopak, global leader in storing vital products, wants to be at the forefront of developments. How does a company with a 400-year history rise to the challenge and seize opportunities to contribute to the energy transition around the world? What role for partnerships in building sustainable business cases, including with young and innovative companies? Eelco Hoekstra, chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of Royal Vopak, will share his experience in the global tank storage industry during the talks.
Providing chemical processes with CO2-free energy
The consultants of BlueTerra Energy Experts B.V. assist industrial firms in the energy transition. How to provide chemical processes with CO2-free energy? What are the most promising techniques for the short and for the long term for the reduction of CO2? How wind-, solar and earth-energy can fully replace fossil fuels? Jan Grift, managing consultant of BlueTerra Energy Experts, will present his ideas about how to provide high temperature processes with CO2-free energy.
